Domestic violence is not about anger and it is rarely an isolated incident. Most victims experience multiple forms of abuse and repeated acts of violence over time. This can include any form of sexual, physical, verbal/emotional, financial, and/or digital abuse. Domestic violence is a crime (Ohio Revised Code
- 1 in 4 women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
- More than 4 million women are assaulted by intimate partners each year.
- 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime.
- Nearly half of female homicide victims are killed by a current or former male intimate partner.
- Women of color and women who are immigrants/refugees are over-represented among victims of severe DV and DV-related homicides, disproportionate to their representation in the population.
- About a third of all DV homicides are homicide-suicides.
- The presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation makes it five times more likely that a woman will be killed.

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders who've been there.
NAMI’s support groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure you and others in the group have an opportunity to be heard and to get what you need.
NAMI’s support groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure you and others in the group have an opportunity to be heard and to get what you need.
- Free of cost to participants
- Designed for adults (18+) with mental health conditions
- Led by people with mental health conditions
- 90 minutes long and meets weekly, every other week or monthly (varies by location)
- No specific medical therapy or treatment is endorsed
- Confidential
